Within hours, the European Cup 2012 will begin. Warsaw National Stadium to witness the start of the European Cup in 2012. Tonight, Warsaw national stadium will be the center of attention of football lovers around the world.
The stadium has a seating capacity of 58,500 which makes it the largest association football arena in Poland. Its construction started in 2008 and finished in November 2011. It is located on the site of the former 10th-Anniversary Stadium, on al. Zieleniecka in Praga Południe district, near the city center. The stadium has a unique retractable PVC roof which unfolds from a nest on a needle suspended above the centre of the pitch. The retractable roof is similar to BC Place in Vancouver, BC, Canada and Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany.
The National Stadium is due to host the opening match (a group match), remaining 2 group matches, a quarterfinal, and a semifinal of the UEFA Euro 2012 co-hosted by Poland.
The stadium is equipped with a heated pitch, training pitch, façade lighting, movable roof and an underground parking also is a multipurpose object providing organization of sports events, concerts, cultural events and also enables sales, conferences and gastronomic functions.
Official stadium opening took place at 19 January 2012. First football match was played on 29 February 2012. The match between Poland and Portugal national football team ended with a 0-0 draw.

The competition slogan, Creating History Together or Razem tworzymy przyszłość in Polish or Творимо історію разом / Tvorymo istoriyu razom in Ukrainian, was announced along with the logo. The slogan reflects the fact that Poland and Ukraine were united in the past as one country and now represent ambitions of two eastern nations to perform the best tournament in the history of European Championship.
The official logo for the tournament was unveiled at a special event at Mykhailivska Square, Kiev, on 14 December 2009. It takes its visual identity from Wycinanki or Vytynanky, traditional form of paper cutting practised in rural areas of Poland and Ukraine. The art form symbolises the nature of the rural areas of both countries. As part of the event, landmark buildings in the eight host cities were illuminated with the tournament logo.
The logo consists of several graphical elements. Flowers are blooming on either side represent the host country. Representation is emphasized through the use of the flag colors of both countries. Graphic elements of interest and ball displays depicting aspects of the human symbol of humanism tournament, joy, celebration, sportsmanship, festive.
